Between Language and Experience

This study demonstrates that mental health discourse in Malta is shaped by multiple and sometimes contradictory framings, including crisis, responsibility, medicalisation, and stigma.

These discourses actively construct how mental health and illness framings are understood and legitimised. The comparison between public discourse and lived experience reveals a gap between institutional language and personal reality.
